What will be your answer if I put a question as what is the one major similarity between the year 1978 and 2006? Well! I know that you all have an answer and are dying to vomit it out. Now before you all lose yourselves out, come on shoot...... Don! Don! Don!Don, Ah! you all got it absolutely right. The day Farhan Akhtar proclaimed the remake of none other than the 1970's blockbuster Don, the whole of Bollywood industry was taken by surprise.
The film pundits started speculating about its success. The canny eyes of the media began fuelling their research work and in carrying out the surveys related to Who would overshadow who? Poor public, before they could digest the news of the remake of Don, they were brought under the target of sharp, smart and forcefully taken endless sessions of interviews.
Media left no stone unturned in taking the news of the remake to the zenith of grapevine and ultimately giving it a shape of a war. After all it was really after a long time that they were getting a scoop like this which could keep them busy for a quality time.
An imaginative boundary line was drawn. The leading opposition parties took their position. And finally the bugle of the war was blown in the month of November when the new Don hit the theatres.
1978 - Chandra Barot ( Director) 2006 - Farhan Akhtar( Director )
1978 -Javed Akhtar ( Screenplay) 2006 - Javed Akhtar (Screenplay )
1978 - Javed Akhtar ( Dialogue ) 2006 - FarhanAkhtar ( Dialogue )
1978 - Amitabh Bacchan ( Don ) 2006 - Shahrukh Khan ( Don )
Many did not go to see the film due to their loyalty to Mr. Bacchan, some still were not able to come out of the images of Sharukh Khan as Devdas and Rahul. Many saw it in order to see what new was experimented and how well Shahrukh has been able to perform or relate to the character of DON. Farhan Akhtar, Sharukh Khan and other casts of the remake spent certain sleepless nights before they actually came to know of the good response to the film.
However the days of their nightmare was over. It was admitted that it could not come up to the expectations of Bacchan's Don but it was also not below expectations. The film brought a new ease of life to many. The viewers went happily to their homes asserting the fact that – Don ko pakadna muskil hi nahiiiin, namumkin haiiii............!

.......GR88888, Deepika, Thank God u have praised Shahrukh Khan in Don. Of course, Don (Shahrukh) ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahi, Naa-Mumkin Hai.......I hope u will like Shahrukh also, bcoz he is King of Bollywood.....and an itelligent person like me is his great fan.................

I love him like anythin! he is too gud..I ve been to mumbai nd i consider my trip ncomplete! guess why? cos I did'nt get to c the Donnnnnn.....:-( I wish i cud ve seen him! Don was grt so darlin clear ur doubts by watchin it again!
Poor gal, never mind u can catch d best of SRK in his upcoming film 'Chak De', i heard he is playing a football coach. Don't u think his role wud give him n audience a relief from his 'Rahul' n 'Karan Johar' kindda film. True i m chilled coz meanwhile i m al set 2 get myself taken over by Harry POTTER..............
Darlin whether its Chak de or any movie of "shahrukh" I wud love it even if the whole world finds it a crap! and reg tat Harry Potter I find him a pain in the ass! Whether he plays a coach or a baddie or a buff! HE ROCKZZZZZZZZZ!
I love my bad boy as I' m sure his persona as well as movies re never gonna fade and yes gud luck with ur harry puttarrrrrrrr!
Get your facts right miss Deepika. Shahrukh plays a hockey coach in Chak De, not a football coach as you mentioned.
With all due respect to Mr. Shahrukh khan and his fans, I think Don and Shahrukh were a big mis-fit. The movie sailed through because of its old fan following and script. Had it been Hrithik Roshan or Mr. Bachan himself, the movie would have made a better business.
And abt Shahrukh, i guess its high time he quits main-stream acting and starts taking up supporting actor kind of roles. He is growing old and fails to entertain the masses.. what you say folks
oh Vaibhav, i m impressed, atleast in u i have found a thorough reader. it shows u liked my blog n prefer reading it word by word. my blog is realy lookin 4ward 2 readers like u. thnx indeed
We all know very well that a KING always remain a KING. Ups and downs are parts of everybody's life. Call it Shahrukh's greatness or his luck, he is the best will remain the best, the negative criticms of few people can't affect him. From his earlier days till now, he always came up with various types of roles. DARR, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa etc. there are several instances which I can put to define his versatility. Bottomline is that most probably one day he will be declared "Super Star of 21th century."
Hello Mr Pips! U re badly badly mistaken...legends are forever...and excuse me Shahrukh in any any any damn role cannot be a MISFIT! Anyways I wud like to mention here it all depends upon ur choice! So i wud end tis by sayin tat " Shahrukh U're incredible"!!!
Superstars are born once in a blue moon. It has taken Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachaan years to attain stardom. Lets see wen can Shahrukh Khan come 2 their level?
